Grieg wrote music for Henrik Ibsen’s play Peer Gynt in 1875. Morning Mood opens the fourth act, a sunrise in the Moroccan desert, and later became the first piece of his Peer Gynt Suite No. 1.
The flute plays this five-note tune, then the oboe answers. You play it in its own key, E major.
